Religous Freedom

Religious freedom is part of the 1st Amendment in the U.S. Consitution. This amendment also allows free speech and freedom for the press. In the past, there have been difficulties with understanding the 1st amendment. For example, the recent debacle with the baker and the cake for a gay wedding. The baker refused to bake a cake for a gay couple because it was against his moral values. This then turned into a national story and was brought to the Supreme Court. Moreover, this is being brought up again with a filmmaking company that is wanting to start making wedding videos. However, if they refuse to do a gay wedding will this be another issue? Is this an issue for Religious Freedom in America?

Moving forward, the issue of illegal immigration is still at large. Especially, locally, in North Carolina. Roy Cooper, Governor of North Carolina, vetoed a bill for local law enforcement to comply with ICE deportation requests. In short, allowing the government to remove illegal immigrants in federal prison and placing them back in the country they came from.
