What is Repentance?

What is Repentance?

What is Repentance?

Today on Theological Thursday we ask the question, “what is repentance?” Taking a look at Psalm 51 and breaking it down.

Charles Spurgeon

Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what once he hated, and hate what once he loved.

To answer “what is repentance” make sure to check out the Pslam 51 Daily Devotional here – “You Are The Man

Dying Conservatism

By Podcast
Dying Conservatism

Dying Conservatism

What is the future for Conservatism? In short, Millenials and Gen Z’s are the future for Conservatism. This might be a scary thought to some. Brooke Medina and Sienna Stanfield join to discuss dying Conservatism.

Is Dying Conservatism a Problem?

Yes! Dying Conservatism is a problem, especially for Christians. Stats have shown that people become more conservative as they become older. The younger generations act on feelings rather than factual evidence. This is especially true for non-believers. It’s harder to push conservative ideas their way. Since the media shows conservatives as freaks, bigots, racists, etc, conservative popularity is dropping amongst college students.

Moving forward, Brooke Medina author of “Conservatism Inc.’s Shrinking Consumer Base” breaks down this issue into 4 steps. These 4 steps include Reevaluating the Product Line, Understanding the Consumer, Improving the User Experience, and finally, Authentic Branding.

Reevaluating the Product Line

Looking at dying conservatism from a marketing viewpoint, it must revise its product. The Millenials and Gen Z’s are economic perfectionists. They want a more welcoming and not as mean economy. The young generation enjoys the connectedness of the world as it is today.

Understanding the Consumer

Moving forward, understanding the consumer in any business is a large key to success. Millennials and Gen Z’s see old conservatism as grumpy and all around annoyed with everything. Since there is already a bad rep for Conservatism, good representation is needed!

Additionally, the younger generation is full of adrift ideologies and people identifying as “nones”. “Nones” meaning not with conservatism, socialism, liberals, etc.

Improving User Experience

Moreover, every user wants a great experience. So, how would Conservatism improve upon that?

First, asking the question, what do young Millenials care about? Millennials care about the job market and the economy. Especially the rise of automated jobs. According to a study, most Gen Z and Millenials respond positively to capitalism. Colleges are pushing a socialist viewpoint onto Millenials and Gen Z students. This means that these students aren’t informed about the cons of socialism. They just hear “$15 an hour” and think more money!

Authentic Branding

Finally, moving onto authentic branding. This, in short, is the way that a product is communicated and spread. Conservatism, while it is dying, could use a fresh coat of paint. Conservatism needs to show hope and joy. This will extinguish the fearful mindset that Millenials and Gen Z’s have.

Apollo 11

By Podcast
Apollo 11

Apollo 11

Today’s show will discuss Apollo 11, Trump’s foolish tweets, the “racist” church billboard, and a Money Monday update.

Starting off, Saturday was Apollo 11’s 50 year anniversary. The moon landing, at the time, was a morale booster and a great victory for the U.S. During the Cold War, America had lost its gusto. Americans were starting to think that America itself was losing the war and that communism was the new way of the world. However, during the space race with Russia, that had all changed. Being the first on the moon gave a new burst of energy for Americans and shed some light in the dark times.

Moving forward, NASA is hoping to fund another moon landing in 2024. The Artemis Moon Lander will take astronauts to the moon. This includes taking the first woman to the moon as well! This program is not only going to be a victory for the U.S. again, but it will be another victory for the human race as a whole.

Trump’s Foolish Tweets

President Trump is known for being extremely vocal on Twitter. As of recent, there has been a feud between The Squad (AOC and colleagues) and President Trump. Trump addressing The Squad had said if they didn’t like America, they should go back from where they came from. The Squad is entirely people of color. However, 3 of the 4 Squad members were born in America. Therefore, this statement was based on name and sight alone. Is it racist? Maybe. Was it foolish? Absolutely.

The “Racist” Church Billboard

“Love it or leave it” was posted on a billboard of a church in a small town. It has taken the news by storm and even members of the congregation disapprove. Was this intentionally racist? Probably not. The phrase “love it or leave it” or “if you don’t like it leave” has been around since the time of Jesus himself. However, not knowing the sole intention nor the Pastor’s heart, we do not know for sure.

Restoring Christian Leaders

By Podcast
Restoring Christian Leaders

Restoring Christian Leaders

Guest host, Shawn Saunders, discusses how the church needs to be restoring Christian leaders. Christians should not condemn each other but restore each other.

Moving forward, the saying “Pastors are dropping like flies” has been seen to be true for the past couple of years. The pedestal that pastors or Christians leaders are put on is unhealthy. Christians must remember that these leaders are humans just like the rest. These leaders can and will mess up just like the rest. However, condemning and “shunning” them is not Christ-like. Removing them from the leadership authority is justified, but abandoning them in their sin is not.

Hear callers thoughts on restoring Christian leaders. Only on today’s show!

The Issue of Life

By Podcast
The issue of life

The Issue of Life

As Christians, we must speak up for the babies inside the womb. And discuss the issue of life.

Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the right of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

The issue of life surrounds every single human. Americans talk about rights a lot. The rights to own a gun, to marriage, for speech, for a job, for healthcare. However, these are all worthless without the fundamental right to life. If someone is not born, why do any of these matter? If we cannot be born we can have nothing else.

Therefore, the scripture in Proverbs 31 commands us to speak up for those who cannot speak at all.

Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, discusses the issue of life today. Check out Operation Rescue here – operationrescue.org

Columbine Survivor

A Columbine Survivor

Today we are joined by Kacey Ruegsegger Johnson, a columbine survivor. Getting an inside look to the before’s and after’s of the horrible act of April 20, 1999, at Columbine Highschool. Plus, overcoming adversity and sharing about the events leading up to the shooting.

Kacey Ruegsegger

Kacey Ruegsegger was a junior at Columbine Highschool when the awful shooting happened. She was eating her lunch in the library when one of the faculty members advised them to take cover. When the shooters finally made their way into the library, she felt a sense of evil cover the room. Kacey was frightened at the moment, but, she felt a wave of comfort pass over her and the hand of an angel over the left shoulder. As the shooters drew closer and closer, her fear stopped as she prayed. The shooters finally made their way to her. Shooting a shot through her shoulder and destroying the arm bones. Playing dead, the shooters left her be.

The Survivor’s Recovery

Kacey, by the grace of God, made it out alive. However, she still had to be rushed to the hospital and have immediate surgery. After Kacey was released from the hospital’s care, reporters swarmed her with questions. Returning home and recovering, Kacey still dealt with the PTSD of the events. Being a columbine survivor was not easy for anyone. She delt with a fear, PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and struggled with her new arm.

Some Wacky Stories…

some wacky stories

Some really wacky stories this week…

With the end of the week brings some wacky stories.

Starting off with defunding the infamous Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood won’t be fully defunded, however, taking out 50 to 60 million dollars of their pockets.

Moving forward, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ups the ante with Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. AOC is suggesting that Speaker Pelosi is singling out Cortez and her colleagues solely based on their race… Speaker Pelosi has worked hard to keep the Democrat caucus in line, however, the very out-spoken AOC and colleagues are stirring trouble for Pelosi. The comical feud is only starting and will continue to flame on throughout the following weeks. AOC continuing to play the race card from one Dem to another…

The following day, AOC denied playing the race card against Speaker Pelosi stating, “That’s stupidly untrue”. Seems redundant to say the least.

Plus, more of some wacky stories all in today’s show!

Talking About Sex

What Does God Say About Sex?

This week on Theological Thursday we’re talking about sex. Joined by Dr. Danny Akin, President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. A good book to read through is the Song of Solomon. The Song of Solomon describes what sex is and how it should be done. Obviously, with some more ‘PG’ language.

Moving forward, looking at the church’s ideology of teaching about sex, while it isn’t frowned upon it also is not present. In the past years, sex has been seen as an out of site out of mind concept. However, God speaks about sex as a great thing He has created. For a man and women, in marriage, to both create life and for pleasure. Talking about sex… only this week

If you want to learn more about what God has to say about sex, check out Dr. Akin’s book – God on Sex: The Creator’s Ideas about Love, Intimacy, and Marriage
