Are American Christians…too American? (feat Preston Sprinkle.)
In this conversation, Steve Noble interviews Preston Sprinkle about his book ‘Exiles: The Church in the Shadow of Empire.’ They discuss the concept of living out faith in America, the idea of exiles, the dual allegiance to God and country, America’s checkered history, shifting pronouns from ‘our country’ to ‘my country,’ and the importance of a global perspective. This conversation explores the themes of citizenship, the role of the church in relation to empire, and the challenges of political engagement for Christians. The chapters cover topics such as the humiliation and exaltation of Christ, the political realities of the book of Revelation, and the three approaches to church and state. The conversation encourages Christians to consider their allegiance to Christ’s global kingdom and to approach politics with a prophetic witness rather than getting too entangled in the power politics of the day.
Our goal is to apply Biblical Truth to the big issues of the day and to spread the Good News of the Gospel to as many people as possible through the airwaves as well as digitally. This mission, like others, requires funding.
