Ephesians 4:7, 11-12

“However, he has given each one of us a special gift, through the generosity of Christ…Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

There are four places in the New Testament that list spiritual gifts: Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 4. Every Christian needs to do a study of these spiritual gifts because as we learn in today’s verse, we all have at least one! These are supernatural abilities to serve the Body of Christ in at least one very special way…and if you are a Christian, that includes YOU!

On the surface, claiming to be “gifted” may seem a bit arrogant, but that has nothing to do with it based on today’s passages. Think of it this way: When you were born again, God not only showed you His grace and mercy, but He also equipped you to serve a very special role within His grand story. You were given at least one tool that He expects you to use to “equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

It might be with children or teens or college students or young singles or married couples or the elderly. It might be a position within the workings of the church or in front of the church or utilized on a one-to-one basis. It might be something that gains attention…or something that blends into the background. Whatever it is, you are GREAT at it and it is a blessing to the Body of Christ around you…and it will forever change your walk with the Lord.

Don’t neglect other Christians by not using your gift!
