Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all of the twists & turns in life were no more mysterious than the ones you see ahead of you on your smartphone navigation app? Unfortunately, we can only see through the glass dimly (1 Cor. 13:12) which means we are left with two choices: struggle to make sense of it all, or trust in God’s character, providence, and bigger plan.

Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us why we often don’t understand what God is doing:

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'”

God has not promised to give us everything, but He has promised to give us everything we need. When we acknowledge and submit to what He has already given us to do (obedience)…rather than just trying a way that seems “right” to us (Prv. 16:25) …we will receive His divine guidance. That might come through Scripture or Godly counsel or circumstances or the presence of the Holy Spirit, but rest assured, it will come…when you trust in and walk in His ways.
