Proverbs 6:16-17
There are six things the Lord hates— no, seven things he detests: hands that shed innocent blood…
I’m writing today’s devotional on the 17thanniversary of the 9/11 attacks where 19 pairs of hands worked in concert to kill 2,976 innocent men, women, and children. God hates hands that shed innocent blood. Sadly, nearly the same number of innocent people are murdered every day in America via abortion providers. God hates their hands, too.
People with innocent blood on their hands should not look to God for any kind of help, unless they are confessing and repenting of their heinous sin. God said plainly, “When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood” (Is. 1:15). The sixth commandment says “You shall not murder” and when you do, every drop of that blood cries out to God for justice (Gen. 4:10). If the blood of one man made enough noise to get God’s attention, imagine how much noise the blood of 63,000,000 aborted American babies makes. You should take a moment to contemplate that.
God is the author of life itself and when that life is taken without cause, it draws out our Creator’s hatred…and rightfully so. The only entity that has the God-given right to take a life is the governing authority (Rom 13:4), but only if that person is guilty of a crime that requires it, or if a nation has just cause to go to war. So whether it be in the midst of the cloud of war, on the mean streets of a crime-ridden neighborhood, or inside the seemingly innocuous confines of your local abortion clinic…know this: If innocent blood is being shed, God’s hatred is focused like a laser on those murderous hands, as well as the person they are attached to.
