Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

“Far more abundantly beyond” is a strange phrase, isn’t it? In the original language, it’s the Greek word huperekperissou, which is made up of three parts – huper, which means above, ek, which means a standard or a measure, and perisseuo, which means over and above or more than enough. In essence, here is what Paul is saying…

“Over and above and over and above and more than enough and then even more than that!”

Unfortunately, too many Christians claim this passage as a sort of Heavenly Gold Card – the “name it and claim it” mentality. The key that unlocks the beauty of this passage is “according to the power that works within us.” Where the Spirit leads, we possess more than enough ability to follow…way more than enough…exceedingly abundantly more than enough.

Reconciliation. Forgiveness. Courage. Patience. Boldness. Wisdom. Discernment. Peace. Joy. Fulfillment. Utilizing your spiritual gift(s). Sharing your testimony. Serving in your church. Going on a mission trip.

Are you walking in His ways? Are you fluent in His Word? Are you praising Him and thanking Him and loving Him? Only then will you experience the fullness of God…and only then will Ephesians 3:20 become a verse that you no longer ponder, but live.
