Ephesians 3:8-10 (ESV)

“To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”

The theology behind today’s passage is too much to tackle in one short devotional, but the application is not. Without a doubt, the Apostle Paul was a brilliant man, but don’t let that be a stumbling block as to YOUR involvement in the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Setting Paul aside for a moment, the rest of the New Testament authors were ordinary men, which teaches us that God uses both the brilliant and the common to advance His plan (see 1 Cor 1:26).

The plan of salvation is extraordinarily simple, and even a child can explain it well enough to be understood. The power is not in the presenter, but in the truth that is being presented. Many Christians sideline themselves thinking that they are not up to the task of sharing the Gospel…but that is a lie from the pit of hell and it smells like smoke! The challenge is not our proficiency – it’s our obedience.

God has a role for you to play on the field of battle for the souls of men. Yes, you! Now get off the bench and into the game!
