Proverbs 3:3-4

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

All too often we think and talk about what kind of friend’s we have without asking ourselves…what kind of friend am I? Of course, God’s loyalty and kindness are without question and never ceasing for those of us who know Him as Abba Father, but is our supply the same for the people in our lives? God’s blessings upon us should equate to our duty to do the same for others.

The first part of today’s proverb exhorts us to remember the loyalty and kindness of our Father to the extent that you might as well tie a chalkboard around your neck with the words on it! Additionally, to write them deep within our hearts, as David did with God’s commands so that he might not sin against him (Ps. 119:11). Once again, God entices by reminding us that IF we will do this, THEN we will find favor with both Himself and others, in addition to having a good reputation.

So, how is your reputation doing?

Are you a loyal and kind friend? What’s the “word on the street” about you? God’s loyalty and kindness is so abundant that it should overflow out of our lives and get all over our friends, co-workers, neighbors, and family members! Is it? Have you found favor with both God and man? Has your friendship earned a good reputation? We have to be willing to ask these questions.
