Proverbs 2:12
Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.
You can tell a lot about a person by the company they choose to keep. Introduce me to your closest friends and I’ll probably be able to venture a pretty good guess as to the way you are choosing to live your life. However, there are a lot words coming at us these days that do not emanate from a person directly, but rather, from a screen.
Who do you “follow” via social media? What podcasts do you listen to? What books are you reading? What shows are you “binge watching” on Netflix or Amazon Prime? I’m no saint myself when it comes to these choices, and sometimes I spend too much time listening to (or reading) the twisted words of evil people…some of whom share my political views. Are any of us immune from the influence of these words? Certainly not.
Once again, God is giving us the path to follow and Wisdom is our guide. Wisdom helps us discern truth from lies. Good intentions from ill will. Loving and firm commentary from back-biting and destructive attacks. Christ honoring accountability from divisive and damaging rhetoric. If you lack wisdom you will certainly be influenced and moved by the twisted words of evil people…some of whom may even be your “friends”.
So, choose wisely! Whether they are in person or via the screen you are looking into right now, they will have a negative impact on your life & witness if you let them.
