Proverbs 2:9-11
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
In the last Daily Dose we considered what God will do for us when we seek out the treasure of His wisdom…but today’s passage reminds us that there are some benefits that we create ourselves as a result of following Wisdom’s lead. God is providential, of course, but we have a hand in the outcome, too.
Life is full of choices. In fact, scientists think we make roughly 35,000 remotely conscious choices every day! Most are not major…but some are, and when they come before us we need to be ready. Do you hesitate to make a decision? Do you struggle to discern what is right, just, or fair? If you do, then its likely that wisdom has not “entered your heart” and knowledge has not “filled you with joy.”
The more you study the Scriptures, whether here in the Proverbs or anywhere else in God’s Word, the better equipped you will be to make the kind of decisions that “will watch over you” and “keep you safe.” If you are trying to do it in your own power and rely on your own experience, you are headed for trouble (and probably have already had plenty of it in your life). God’s way is not the only way…but it certainly is the Best Way…and it works according to God’s will every time its tried.
That’s a pretty good payoff, don’t you think?
