Matthew 4:1

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

Jesus vs. Satan. Head to Head. Mano e Mano y Mano. Would Jesus be able to succeed where Adam and Eve had failed? Satan would come at him with three powerful temptations…but his plan was doomed to fail. Jesus can handle isolation. We can’t.

“Isolation equals destruction” is a phrase I have used for years when talking to my Christian brothers about the need to have some close friends in the faith…the need to have someone to share your struggles and failures with…the need to have someone to hold you accountable. If you are trying to handle the temptations and pressures of life all on your own, I’d like to remind you of one simple fact:

You are not Jesus.

Jesus was able to handle complete isolation and resist the temptations that came straight from the Devil himself. We can’t. Do you have someone you can share your challenges with? Someone you can confess to? Someone you can call or text who will pray for you on a moment’s notice? If you isolate yourself from Christian fellowship and accountability…if you never confess your sins to another person…you will experience destruction.

“Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”    Proverbs 27:5-6
