Philippians 3:20-21

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”

If you want to get your blood pressure up, just get into a conversation about politics! Whether you are agreeing with a like-minded person or disagreeing with someone who has yet to “see the light”, the odds are good that your conversation will get quite lively. Believe me…I get it. As a “Christian Activist” and radio talk show host I understand the power that politics has in American life.

As Christians, I think we need to ask ourselves a very important question: just how important SHOULD politics be to us? If it’s not on your radar screen at all I say “Shame on you!” We should be taking the Truth of God’s Word into every nook and cranny of life when given the chance…and in America, we can do that with every single vote.

If politics is a BIG issue for you, I offer you a word of caution: your citizenship is in Heaven…not on earth. Politics is certainly important, but the Gospel is preeminent. I like to think of politics in the same way that I think of Satan (funny, huh?): I pay attention to Satan, his demons, and his antics…but I’m not pre-occupied with them. I know he has all sorts of influence, but I also know that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Paul offers a great reminder for all the Children of God: Our citizenship is in Heaven! Christ WILL return. Everything WILL be made right. Our messed up bodies and lives WILL be renewed. So the next time your blood boils over because of politics, please remember: God still rules the universe with His feet up…and in the end, everything is going to be made right…so don’t sell your joy down the river over the political arena!

Engaged? Yes. Pre-occupied? Never.
